Baked Mozzarella Sticks

Katie’s Crazy Kitchen and our adventures through The Food Networks “The Big, Fun Kids Cookbook!”

Another week has passed so we were back at it in our crazy kitchen exploring a new recipe out of “The Big, Fun Kids Cookbook” by the Food Network. The girls decided to tryout a recipe from the snack section, the Baked Mozzarella Sticks. These turned out crispy, gooey and delicious and would make a perfect warm after school snack.

One thing I like about this recipe is that it requires very few ingredients and the best part because they are all ones I normally have in my house already. Kinsley rated the Baked Mozzarella Sick’s a 3 smilie face rating, and I know we will be making these again in the future!

Caramel- Pumpkin Muffins

Katie’s Crazy Kitchen and our adventures through the Food Networks “The Big, Fun Kids Baking Book!”

Welcome back to our crazy kitchen… and today CRAZY it really was! Steele didn’t last long hanging out in his high chair eating his snacks. But then after we were done our video I realized that the brand new bag of veggie straws I had opened were rancid tasting, so I don’t blame him.

Todays recipe pick from “The Big, Fun Kids Baking Book” were the Caramel- Pumpkin Muffins. Now I am not the biggest pumpkin fan, but these muffins were perfect as they were not over powering with pumpkin flavour, but just the right amount. My favourite part were the roasted pecans, and I know the girls definitely loved the caramel sauce that’s not only just on top, but inside the muffins as well.

Because the muffins had to bake and cool a bit you don’t get to see us spreading the caramel sauce on top but we did put it on while the muffins were still warm. This which worked really well as it just melted and made a nice layer of gooey caramel sauce on top!

Kinsley rated the Caramel- Pumpkin Muffins a 3 smilie face rating, and Steele devoured his within minutes, so I think he would agree with his older sister!

Bacon- Cheddar Wafflewich

Katie’s Crazy Kitchen and our adventures through the Food Networks, “The Big, Fun Kids CookBook!”

This week was the first time Kinsley and Paisley picked a recipe to do from “The Big, Fun Kids Cookbook.” They both love breakfast so that’s exactly what they choose, the Bacon- Cheddar Wafflewich!

The girls loved this waffle sandwich but who wouldn’t when you dip it in maple syrup.

I loved that this recipe was simple and used just a few ingredients that I already had in the house.

The girls were excited to taste their wafflewich and overall Kinsley gave this recipe a 3 smilie face rating!

Kinsley and Paisley’s Family Superhero Birthday

Kinsley, Paisley and Steele’s birthdays all fall within a month of each other, so we have decided that every year we will do a joint birthday party!

This years theme was superhero’s, and it was awesome seeing everyone come dressed in costume to celebrate Kinsley, turning 5 and Paisley, turning 3. Steele had his own birthday bash for his first birthday, but next year he will be celebrated at the family party.

Confetti Magic Bars

Katie’s Crazy Kitchen and our adventures through the Food Networks, “The Big, Fun Kids Baking Book!”

Today we started on a new adventure in our crazy kitchen! I thought it would be exciting to get the girls to pick out one recipe a week from the Food Network’s “The Big, Fun Kids Baking Book” and “The Big, Fun Kids CookBook”.

Todays Pick

Confetti Magic Bars

For each recipe there will be two videos:

Part one is Kinsley, Paisley and sometimes Steele and myself (Katie) baking and cooking the recipe.

Part two will be the taste test were the girls will have a chart to fill out based on looks, smell, taste, feel, and overall what they thought of the recipe and the outcome.

The girls first recipe that they picked was the Confetti Magic Bars from the baking book. This was a fun recipe as the girls made the base of the bars and then added on some fun toppings including, pecans, coconut, chocolate chips, and the best part Sprinkles!

When it came time for the taste test the girls were super excited to get to try the bars! Kinsley understood how our chart worked, but Paisley on the other hand was a bit confused as too what was going on. Overall Kinsley rated the Confetti Magic bars three smily faces!
